Hey everyone!
Let me start by saying this: The upcoming update has turned out to be way bigger than we first expected!
This means it’s going to take a bit longer to get everything right, as it’s not just about fixing bugs or adding QOL tweaks anymore. But don’t worry, it’ll be worth the wait! We’ve got tons of great improvements in store and we can’t wait for you to check them out.
However, as you know, we’re a pretty small team, so it might just take a little bit more time for us to get everything just right. We apologise for the delay and thank you for your patience.
To make the wait a little sweeter, here’s a sneak peek at what’s coming in the next update:
We’re changing resource gathering, …
Resource gathering in the game is undergoing some exciting changes. Instead of being placed in similarly sized piles, resources will now be scattered throughout the Hollow, blending naturally into the environment for a more immersive experience.
You’ll also find destructible trees that can be felled with certain types of weapons, adding another new and dynamic element to the resource system.
… overhauling the user interface, …
We’re excited to share that a major UI overhaul is coming to Holomento.
The revamped design will offer a more intuitive layout that simplifies navigation and optimises space. The new interface will match the overall style of the game, making it easier and more enjoyable than ever to explore your collections and track your progress.
… improving the combat system, …
While playtesting various changes and fixes, we realised that melee combat could use some extra love. That’s why we’ve set out to fundamentally redesign the melee combat system.
Expect new and improved mechanics for parrying, blocking, and shield usage/breaking that will add a new dynamic to your encounters. We’re also adding eye-catching new VFX to make combat look as juicy as it feels.
… and upping the challenge!
While the headline might sound a bit daunting, don’t worry – this is all about customization. These new options are there to give each run a unique feel, not just to make the game harder (unless you want them to, of course). With region-specific weather effects and difficulty levels, various modifiers and dangerous curses, you can customize your travels and even seek out extra challenges to push your skills to the limit. All of these features are designed to keep the gameplay fresh and engaging, regardless of your experience level.
(No further screenshots in this part, as it would just be a bunch of boring spreadsheets and percentages that don’t do justice to how awesome this addition is going to be 📄✨)
So when will the new update arrive?
We’re gearing up for a big patch, and we’re putting a lot of effort into improving the feel and progression of the game, as well as fixing bugs. And of course there’s a lot more to this update than what I’ve just told you, like a new reloading mechanic, ladders, rebalancing the health and damage of certain enemies, or adding more enemy camps (like the one in Frigid Fjord) to the different regions.
All of this is coming together nicely, but there’s still a lot of work to be done. We’re aiming for a release at the beginning of next year, and we’ll keep you posted on what we’re working on in the meantime!
