Hey everyone!
We know it’s been quite a while since our last update, and we sincerely apologise for the silence on our part. But we hope to make up for it with showcasing some more upcoming content!
In this little “Hey, we’re still working on it!” post, we’ll dive into some of the exciting progress we’ve made with color grading, visual effects and weapons π¨

(Active Discord members will probably already be familiar with most of the content featured in this post. Rest assured though that another update with even more new visuals will follow soon… maybe something about a new area to explore?)
Everything shines in a new light
On top of our completely overhauled lighting system, weβve fine-tuned the color grading, giving each region its own distinct atmosphere, from the warm, sun-drenched landscapes to the cooler settings.
Every corner of the game now has its own unique feel, making the world feel even more alive and dynamic.

Guns, guns, and even more guns
As the title suggests, we’re shaking things up with your gun arsenal! Holomento now features a fully revamped ammo reloading system, alongside a legendary accessory that lets you fling your weapons away in style – because why not add a little flair to your firepower?
Additionally, your Traveler class will now affect important aspects like reload speed and attack speed.

And for shotgun enthusiasts, we’ve fine-tuned the damage calculation for the cone, making every shot feel more accurate, more powerful, and way more satisfying!
The firework launcher has also been given some extra love, with custom helixes for its projectiles, a reload system just like any other weapon, and an ammo capacity boost with upgrades.

Booms, Blasts, and Brilliant Effects
And that’s not all! We’re also continuing to add some stunning new VFX to bring that extra oomph to every moment.

When explosions hit the water, get ready for incredibly satisfying splash effects – as seen above. And if you hear a tree crashing to the ground, you may have just equipped our new Woodcutter’s Axe accessory – perfect for chopping down trees with any weapon.
We’ve also introduced footsteps and impact dust for the Traveler, so that each step leaves its own mark depending on the ground you’re walking on, making every move feel even more immersive.

When’s the update coming your way?
Sooo… this update didn’t arrive at the beginning of this year (obviously) β BUT! We’re making lots of progress, and we’ll be sure to let you know as we get closer to a definitive release date.
Since we’ve made a lot of big changes to the game systems, we don’t want to rush through things; right now, there’s a lot of older content to review to make sure everything’s still working right πͺ
So yeah, as regular non-gamedev life also takes up a good chunk of our time, and you’ve now heard how much more than just the initially planned QoL features we’re packing into this patch (of course we would, you know us), it’s still not quite ready to be rolled out.
We’ll do our best to keep you in the loop and will most likely share another progress post before the 0.8 release (which is btw now titled the Journeys Update), so that you at least have some new Holomento content in the meantime.
